Rhythm Drumming

Rhythm Drumming

We are glad to partner with Hong Kong Macau International Exchange Foundation (HKMIEF), a registered charity engaging youth through regular school outreach and educational and other experiential activities, to organize a series of STEAM with rhythm drumming classes for SEN students from September 2024 to August 2025.

The project aims to create a peer group of ambassadors to address special educational needs (SEN) students by empowering a group of enthusiastic students. These ambassadors will be offered training in STEAM concepts, rhythmic music training through drumming skills, and leadership skills to facilitate pair-up meetings with their SEN partners. The training will focus on communication through music, self-expression through hand and body experiences, development of teamwork, sharing achievements, and promoting inclusivity. The course will use designated drum pads and drum stands for training and performances to make it easier for students to learn percussion and reduce the burden of instrument assembly and weight.

Schedule

Stage 1: Selection of Ambassadors (Jun – Jul 2024)

15 secondary school students with a passion of STEAM

Stage 2: Training and Preparation (Aug – Dec 2024)

Provide training in AI, coding, AR and basic music and rhythmic training to the group of future ambassador trainers leading workshops for SEN students

Stage 3: Workshop for SEN Students (Jan – Jun 2025)

Recruit 60 SEN students in total from special schools. Trained ambassadors will assist STEAM coaches applying the AR/VR digital learning platforms designed by ICE to train the SEN participants to perform with drum pads, aiming to improve their level of attention, motion ability and sensory integration.

Stage 4: Performance (Jul – Aug 2025)

The 60 participants will meet and perform through a virtual AR/VR performance to deliver their output and celebrate the success of the project learning.

Stage 5. Succession (Jul – Aug 2025)

The first cohort of 15 ambassador trainers will provide succession training to the next cohort of ambassadors as a means to sustain future project development.
